Using Gas Efficiently In Your Business

We offer energy efficiency advice to all industrial and commercial customers. Trained staff work with architects, specifiers, planners and installers to get the best solution for your business and the most appropriate equipment for your commercial property. Our energy efficiency advice to business is free.

Energy efficiency

Research by the gas industry produces new technologies and improved efficiencies in gas equipment. Modern gas systems are available for all kinds of business applications. We can advise you on how to be more energy efficient. We will offer this advice through one of our fully trained consultants.

One way that businesses can become energy efficient is to install Combined Heat & Power (CHP). CHP is a process that generates electricity and heat simultaneously. This helps to reduce running costs and delivers significant efficiency savings. We can advise you how to adopt CHP technology and provide useful advice on where grant aid may be available.

Tariff review (up to 732,000 kWh/annum)

We will contact you if you are a commercial customer to advise you if there is any change to the price you are paying.

Contract review (above 732,000 kWh/annum)

We will regularly review your requirements and provide you with energy efficiency advice. Prior to your contract with us expiring, we will contact you and advise you on your contract renewal terms, including price.

Payment options

Depending on your specific circumstances, we will offer you the opportunity to pay for your gas by direct debit or standard credit.

Using natural gas

Gas can be used in business for –

  • Space and water heating
  • Central Boilers and Lightweight Low Water Content Boilers have efficiency levels of up to 85%.
  • Condensing Boilers and Air Heaters give efficiencies up to 95%, by condensing water vapour from the products of combustion.
  • Direct Fired Warm Air Heaters draw fresh air into the unit and heat it. This highly efficient system can deliver over 90% efficiencies and is ideal for places that need high ventilation rates.
  • Other systems include Radiant Heaters, Balanced-flue Convector Heaters and Packaged Roof-mounted Units.

Combined Heat and Power (CHP)

This uses gas to provide both heat and electrical power from a single packaged unit, giving high overall efficiencies and reduced energy costs.

The most common type of CHP can meet your base load heat and power needs. It operates by topping up from hot water boilers and mains electricity when needed.

Catering

Natural gas is the first choice for cafés, restaurants and fast food outlets, with an ever increasing range of versatile and energy efficient appliances. We can advise you on a range of these -

  • Convection ovens
  • Pressure steamers
  • Combination ovens
  • Gas heated dishwashers
